5th Congressional District candidate Janelle Bynum visits Central Oregon | Elections
Democratic State Rep. Janelle Bynum campaigned in Central Oregon over the weekend. She is taking on incumbent Republican U.S. Rep. Lori Chavez-DeRemer for Oregon’s 5th Congressional District.
Bynum made stops in Bend and Redmond for events, including preparing campaign literature and a rally. She also stopped in local neighborhoods, talking to voters about issues that are important to them.
Bynum was joined by state Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum for her visit, the two speaking with volunteers and other local candidates on Sunday at the Deschutes County Democratic Party Campaign Office before knocking on doors.
“I think people are really tired about the chaos in Washington, the chaos of life in general. You know they’re concerned about making sure they have safe livable communities and affordable communities,” Bynum said.
In addition to addressing affordable housing, Bynum said some of the biggest concerns she’s heard include reproductive health and environmental issues, particularly with wildfires in Central Oregon.
Chavez-DeRemer was in Bend on September 4 as she campaigns for re-election this November.
National election forecasters have listed this race a toss-up, one of more than a dozen that will decide control of the U.S. House of Representatives.
